VIOLONISTICA ENESCIANĂ
ENESCU’S VIOLIN SCHOOL

Summary/Abstract: In this paper I will argue the following thesis: through George Enescu and his most important disciples (Yehudi Menuhin, Ida Haendel, Christian Ferras, Arthur Grumiaux, Ivry Gitlis), the Romanian violin school gained international importance. Enescu was the mentor of Romanian musical life, model and impetus for creators. He achieves the synthesis of the national with the universal in musical language and brings Romanian cultured creation to the technical and artistic level of universal post-romantic music. Thus, the appearance of Enescu marked the moment of accession of Romanian musical culture to European musical life, as Enescu was the first Romanian musician whose works were represented and confirmed in value in the European circuit.
