Summary/Abstract: Sauret’s cadenza for Paganini’s first violin concerto represents a staple of the concert repertoire. This work explores its intricate evolution from to its original conception to its contemporary interpretations, dissecting the cadenza’s compositional process and technical intricacies, while situating it within the broader historical and artistic context of violin performance. The study accentuates Sauret's distinctive compositional style, distinct from that of other composers in their cadenzas for this violin concerto, skillfully merging technical virtuosity with expressive musicality. Furthermore, it rigorously analyzes the diverse interpretative modifications introduced by contemporary violinists. This analytical process not only illuminates the enduring legacy of the Sauret cadenza but also reflects on its role as a benchmark criterion for violin mastery and artistic interpretation.
