Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the Ruthenian and Ukrainian issues in the linguistic work of the Slavist and Anglicist Otakar Vočadlo (1895–1974), with particular attention to his monograph Linguistic Separatism from a World Perspective (1935), which is based on his earlier text Linguistic Separatism among the Slavs and Elsewhere (1923). Vočadlo’s negative stance toward the establishment of independent Ruthenian and Ukrainian standard languages is interpreted as a reaction rooted in Vočadlo’s Russophilism and Slavic reciprocity.
