“WOMEN IN HISTORY” – OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FORMATION OF CIVIC CULTURE OF STUDENTS

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the issue of the major ideas, presented in the History and civi¬lizations textbooks, published after the 2015 legal amendments. In addition, it observes how the intended purposes of the educational programs are accomplished in school historical education. The focus of the scientific research is the representation of women in history. The analysis of the textbooks allows us to summarize that the topic is presented within rational limits, without being overexposed or neglected. The volume, interpretations and provision of various resources in the development of the problem for educational purposes vary depend¬ing on the conceptual ideas of the author teams. There is a general tendency to present the topic as part of the modernization of Bulgarian society. Thus, in practice, students are given a solid foundation for understanding gender equality as an element of the civilizational path of European societies.
