Summary/Abstract: The article examines a leading idea that dominates the educational paradigm of the modern stage. The necessary transformations in the training of future teachers at the univer¬sity and the changes in the history teaching methodology are outlined. The most important specifics of the approach in historical education are highlighted. A model of competence goal setting and competence lesson methodical modeling is argued. Basic rules for working in the preparation of future teachers for applying the competence model in education are derived. An option for competence-oriented analysis and evaluation of a history textbook is proposed.
