Summary/Abstract: Ștefan Gregoroviciu is a prominent figure of musical life in Satu Mare. He was the director of Satu Mare Philharmonics for two decades (1969-1989), where he organized remarkable cultural events, very much appreciated by music lovers. Also, we owe him the current name of the “Dinu Lipatti” State Philharmonics from Satu Mare. On November 3rd 1994, Ștefan Gregoroviciu (see photo) wrote a brief historical account of musical life in Satu Mare, but also a report on his activity during the two decades when he led the “Dinu Lipatti” State Philharmonics. The Satu Mare County Museum has an exceptional collection of documents, comprising the correspondence of Ștefan Gregoroviciu with important art institutions in Romania and abroad, as well as with various exceptional concert artists. Some documents from this collection, of which a few presented in the annexes of this paper, are available to the public in exhibitions organized by the Satu Mare County Museum.
