Summary/Abstract: The subject of the study is the institution of suspending a professional soldier from his official duties at the position he holds. This is a new regulation that did not exist in the previous service pragmatics, i.e. the Act of 11 September 2003 on the military service of professional soldiers. Until the entry into force of the currently applicable Act of 11 March on the defence of the Homeland, the possibility of suspension was possible only on the basis of the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The legislator regulated only the financial aspects of suspension in military regulations. The author presents both modes of suspending a professional soldier from his/her official duties at the position he holds - mandatory mode and optional mode, as well as extension of the suspension period. Financial problems related to suspension and suspension as a premise enabling exemption from professional military service have also been characterised.
