Summary/Abstract: Gala Galaction (Grigore Pișculescu) was a remarkable personality of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the first half of the 20th century. Gala Galaction is known primarily as a writer, but his work as a priest, theologian, teacher, and preacher is at least as important. His work within the Orthodox Church focused on the following areas: rediscovering the importance of the Holy Liturgy and the Eucharist as the centre of Church life; His activity within the Orthodox Church focused on the following areas: rediscovering the importance of the Holy Liturgy and the Eucharist as the centre of Church life, the theological and cultural training of the clergy, stimulating missionary activity, highlighting the social role of the Church, the revival of monasticism in the Romanian Orthodox Church, and the translation of the Bible. All these aspects were major objectives of the missionary strategy of the Romanian Patriarchate in the interwar period, so studying and understanding Gala Galaction means understanding a large part of the activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church at that time.
