Summary/Abstract: The Physical Education (PE) lesson is regarded by many experts as an essential tool for combating sedentary lifestyles. However, to fully harness the potential of this tool, it is crucial to carefully consider the ideas we communicate to future PE teachers. Aim: This study aims to explore the main concepts conveyed to future PE teachers in Romania. Method: A thematic qualitative analysis was conducted on the mandatory bibliographic references assigned to prospective PE teachers in Romania’s public education system. Results and Discussion: Of the 21 required study documents, 13 (62%) could not be found. A thematic analysis of the remaining 8 materials revealed 5 main themes and 10 sub-themes. One key message imparted to teachers is that sports competition serves as the primary educational tool in PE lessons, and teachers are responsible for identifying talent for high-performance sports. Conclusions and Future Implications: This study highlights the outdated ideas we pass on to future PE teachers. If we want a physically literate young generation, it is imperative to revise the specialized literature required for future PE teachers.
