Summary/Abstract: This document is the 2023 Christmas Pastoral Letter authored by Bishop Lucian of Caransebeș. Written during the commemorative year of church hymnographers, the letter reflects on the angelic doxology and the profound theological meaning of Christmas carols and liturgical hymns. The Bishop specifically highlights the Nativity Canon composed by Saint Cosma the Melodist, contrasting it with Saint John of Damascus's Paschal Canon. Amidst contemporary global crises, the letter offers a fervent prayer for peace, explicitly referencing the wars in Eastern Europe and Gaza. Furthermore, it strongly urges the faithful to defend the traditional Christian family.
