Summary/Abstract: We are currently living in an era marked by rapid innovations across all fields, including language education. The role of the translator in LSP education has also experienced significant changes, shifting from the traditional focus on linguistic competence and linguistic equivalence to a more complex view that sees the translator as a mediator of meaning, cultural knowledge, and professional expertise. This article aims to evaluate how the evolving profile of translators in LSP teaching is influenced by emerging practices such as digital technologies, task-based learning, and interdisciplinary approaches, which reshape the translator’s contribution to specialized language learning. Additionally, the article discusses three key competencies that translators working in LSP contexts should possess (to varying degrees): linguistic competence (bilingual or multilingual), knowledge competence (including both specialized and general/cultural knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge through research and documentation skills), and transfer or strategic competence.
