Summary/Abstract: The well-being of pre-adolescents is a highly relevant topic that requires careful attention from local public authorities and the entire community. This article analyzes the importance of creating an environment conducive to the development of pre-adolescents and the positive impact it has on them. Thus, in the first part of the paper, the social context and the challenges faced by young people are explored, highlighting the essential role of local governance in creating a favorable framework. Later, the text addresses the importance of civic education and the active participation of pre-adolescents, emphasizing the need for their preparation to engage consciously in community life. Finally, examples of good practices are presented, such as the initiatives “Child Friendly Cities,” “European Child Guarantee,” and “OurCity,” which demonstrate how collaboration between authorities, organizations, and young people can address their specific needs and contribute to the strengthening of an inclusive and sustainable society.
