Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the influence of the German philosopher and theologian Rudolf Otto on Prof. Ivan Panchovski's views regarding the religious feeling as the foundation of religious life. He develops the idea of an „emotional a priori“ in the human being, which, through consciousness and the evaluation of moral events, gives meaning and content to morality. Similarly, according to Otto, the „religious a priori“, rooted in inherent feelings and convictions, is the condition for the manifestations of the numinous. Panchovski interprets the religious feeling as a psychological and spiritual experience of the sacred, thus arriving at the idea of the moral feeling as the psychological basis of morality, through the moral law implanted by God in the human being.
