Summary/Abstract: This article examines the role and place of the morphological component in the exam format of the National External Assessment (NEA) in Bulgarian Language and Literature after the 7th grade. The presence of the morphological component in Module 1 (Section 2 – language tasks) of the NEA is analyzed over a five-year period (2020 – 2025). The research is based on the normative context reflected in the current curricula for Bulgarian Language for the lower secondary level (grades V-VII), introduced in the 2016/2017, 2017/2018, and 2018/2019 academic years.
