Summary/Abstract: This article presents a possible model of teaching in a Bulgarian school classroom which claims to be above the average for the country. The classroom “Georgi Markov” provides access to authors who are predominantly outside the canon or who have opposed, at least in part of their works, the social realism as the official state literary ideology of the communist times. The idea for this space points at a deeper and more diverse presentation of the native literature (as well as from abroad) which we have called “different” since some of the authors have been marginalized on purpose, while others are still making their way to the school literature syllabus (Dubarova, Markov); some of them are of a worldclass renown such as the French-Bulgarian scholar Tzvetan Todorov who is not mentioned at school level. The classroom “Georgi Markov” creates a fertile soil for thinking through and experiencing the world via literature.
