Summary/Abstract: An attempt is made, through this article, to establish how literary arrangements manifest themselves in the literature syllabus in the Bulgarian secondary schools. The topic may seem trivial, even boring, but it illustrates the way certain expectations towards the present-day humanities are working within which falls the “list” of literary works since the idea of the world and of its organization are created at school for the first time. The base knowledge in the mother tongue, history and literature will be turning into an ever-bigger resource for coping with everyday life situations, as well as in developing a practical experience, not just some unnecessary thoughts which could be of no use to anyone. Back during the times of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, as well as now, ideology, provocation and scandal have impacted literary knowledge, and the syllabus, although ever so slowly is coming closer to contemporaneity.
