Summary/Abstract: "...and I hear that they got married, may God grant them long life and happiness, even though, according to the Holy Code of Law (Sfânta Pravilă), he should have mourned her for a full year, like a true wife she was to him". The author of these lines, which reveal the deep pain and anger of a parent towards the reprehensible gesture of his son-in-law, who remarried shortly after his daughter passed away, violating the customs of the time, is the boyar Constantin Strâmbeanu, whose biography we will attempt to present in this communication. Constantin Strâmbeanu is a descendant of the Vlădescu boyar family on his father's side and, on a more distant genealogical line, of the great aga Neagu of Strâmba (Matei Basarab's enemy!). He is mentioned in documents as early as the first years of the second decade of the 18th century as a servant in Constantin Brâncoveanu's chancellery. Later, he became involved in the political events of the late 18th century, which ended with the annexation of Oltenia by the Austrians. He was among the boyars who supported their cause. This 'partisanship' was rewarded by the new authorities, and he is documented on several occasions as an advisor (consilier) in the 'chesariceasca administration'. He continued his political activity even after the Austrians withdrew from Oltenia, returning control of the province to the Wallachian authorities. Shortly after this event, he occupied the positions of high pitar, high stolnic, high vistier, and high clucer in the Divan of Wallachia. However, beyond these administrative "responsibilities" and land acquisitions, Constantin Strâmbeanu's name is also closely linked to his involvement in various acts of foundation, alongside members of his family, the case of the church in Corcova (Mehedinți County, 1752) being, in fact, the most representative from this perspective. In the annex of this study, a number of fourteen documents are published, unknown to the existing scholarly literature, yet highly relevant to the present research.
