Summary/Abstract: The paper The Siege and Killing of Sarajevo’s Inhabitants in 1992 presents the results of research into the complex issue of the number and identity of victims killed during the first year of the siege of the capital of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After precisely defining the research methodology and presenting the historical sources, the paper draws attention to the difficulties and research challenges encountered in the preparation of this paper. To establish accurate data on the circumstances of the crimes, their causes and manner of death, as well as the exact date, time, and location, it was necessary to consult multiple primary sources for each individual victim. The first section of the paper outlines the significance and limitations of the materials used. Information about victims in the collected historical sources was at times scarce or incomplete due to the understandable context of mass crimes, especially during the early period of the Sarajevo siege. After verifying the authenticity and reliability of primary historical sources available from hospital and administrative institutions, and with the aim of providing an objective and accurate reconstruction of historical events, it was essential to conduct a critical analysis and comparison of the sources. The following pages present statistical data for 5,904 individuals killed during the 1992 siege of Sarajevo, categorized by cause or manner of death, age, date of death, place and municipality of death, place of birth, occupation, and other relevant data obtained from the mentioned sources.
