Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on text-image narratives in children’s literature about visual art and their application in gallery education. The research examines the interplay between visual and verbal components, which enables young readers to achieve a deeper understanding of visual communication and fosters active reception. As a model example, the publication Jak se dělá design (Pelcl, Šeborová, & Franta, 2023), published by the Moravian Gallery in Brno, is used. Within the context of gallery education, the book functions as a tool for motivational, interpretative, and post-reflective phases of learning; it facilitates transfer between formal and informal environments and responds to the challenges of a visually saturated society, where traditional frontal instruction fails to engage young audiences. Findings confirm that text-image narratives represent an effective, age-sensitive medium for developing visual literacy, aesthetic sensitivity, and reading competence, thereby legitimizing their systematic integration into educational practices in galleries and schools.
