Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the study of the process of forming social competence in future specialists in the social sphere, based on the study of the discipline "General Sociology." Emphasis is placed on the importance of integrating the Ukrainian education system into global standards, particularly through the implementation of a competency-based approach aimed at developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for practical activities. The main components of social competence, such as political, socio-economic, multicultural, and socio-communicative competencies, are highlighted. Various aspects of social competence are described, including political, multicultural, socio-communicative, and informational-instrumental competencies, and it is noted that personal characteristics also play an important role in its development. Teaching methods such as teamwork, role-playing games, and round-table discussions contribute to the development of social competencies. Special attention is paid to fostering personal values such as empathy, communication skills, teamwork, analytical abilities, and social responsibility. The article includes an analysis of scientific publications on the formation of social competence, as well as tables showing the correspondence of the topics in the discipline "General Sociology" to the main competencies and learning outcomes. The main conclusion of the article is that the formation of social competence is a key task in preparing future specialists in the social sphere, as a high level of competence development not only enables effective professional implementation but also influences social processes. The article also explores the "Social Work" educational program and its connection with sociology in the formation of competencies necessary for social work.
