Summary/Abstract: The research problem formulated in this article focuses on the question of the importance of supplier selection criteria in the practical operation of manufacturing companies. Academics and practitioners have long recognized the importance of efficient and effective supplier selection, but the process is still under--researched empirically. This thesis aims to fill the existing research gap in this area. The research was carried out in 67 manufacturing companies using a diagnostic survey method with a tool in the form of a proprietary online questionnaire. The research was carried out in January 2024 among companies operating in north-eastern Poland. The survey shows that in manufacturing enterprises, the key criteria for supplier selection are: quality of delivered products, reliability of delivery, and availability of products. The price of products, lead time, production capacity and flexibility of deliveries play a slightly less important role for customers. Location and green supplier practices were found to be the least important in terms of supplier selection. It was shown that there are no statistically significant differences between the surveyed companies in their assessment of the importance of supplier selection criteria.
