Summary/Abstract: Konstantin Iliev is a bright creative figure with a multi-layered presence in the cultural life of Bulgaria from the second half of the 20th century. A gifted musician-composer, conductor and socially active kind of person, he is from the generation of artists (side by side with Lazar Nikolov) who inspire, protect and pave the way for Musica Nova in the country. A graduate of the great Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov and especially after his extremely fruitful specialization in Prague, Iliev returned to his homeland, charged with the ideas of modern musical thinking, which he encrusted and intertwined in his rich symphonic and chamber works. Not only that, he defended his everchanging, unconventional and sometimes revolutionary musical language throughout all his life at the cost of many human and professional hardships.
