Summary/Abstract: Starting from Dragoș Popescu’s anthology regarding Hegel’s philosophy of religion (and that of history) mentioned above, this essay is structured on the following lines: first, after the introductory section, it discusses several Kantian implications of Hegel’s philosophy of religion. Second, it advances by analyzing Hegel’s so called ‘proofs’ of God’s existence, namely the cosmological, the theological and the ontological one. Furthermore, it takes into account some important connections existing between Hegel’s philosophy of religion and his political philosophy, alluding to the fact that Hegelian philosophy of religion possesses important elements residing within the philosophical catalogue of Enlightenment, and those elements pervade the entire system of the German philosopher, thus rendering it towards a secular and rational type of development, although, nevertheless, irrational, mystic, romantic and poetic tendencies also run deep through Hegel’s entire philosophy. Finally, the essay concludes that Dragoș Popescu’s efforts to (re)introduce Hegel within the Romanian culture through previously unpublished lectures and fragments are praiseworthy, and may be considered, to some extent, a contribution to a developing Romanian form of right-wing Hegelianism.
