Summary/Abstract: Striving to eliminate Ruthenian nationality, replacing it with Ukrainian, the Soviet Union pursued the goal of geopolitical dominance in post-war Central Europe, in particular, the Ruthenian territories that were part of Czechoslovakia before the beginning of World War II. The annexation of the "Ukrainian" autonomous region of Podkarpatska Rus (1944) was a consequence of the policy of expanding the borders of the USSR to the west. This was also the reason for the introduction by the Czechoslovak authorities (after the communist coup of 1948) of the policy of assimilation (Ukrainization) of Ruthenians in the so-called neighboring territories. Pryashevskaya Rus - in Eastern Slovakia. The author presented the article at the session of the parliamentary seminar "Podkarpatská Rus - 70 years later. The withdrawal of Podkarpatské Rusi to Sovětskému svazu v roce 1945. Příspěvek k dějinám českého parlamentarismu" ("Podkarpatska Rus - 70 years later. The transfer of Podkarpatska Rus to the Soviet Union in 1945. To the history of Czech parliamentarism"). This seminar took place on November 5, 2015 in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic under the patronage of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic Daniel Herman, the Vice-Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Jan Bartoshka and under the leadership of the Deputy of the Parliament Jiri Junka.
