CRITICAL AND HISTORICAL-LITERARY OPINIONS FOR AN OBJECTIVE RE-ASSESSMENT OF THE WORK CAPTURED BY BRIGANDTS

Summary/Abstract: Captured by Brigands written by Gjerasim Qiriazi is a literary work which has not found its place in the History of Albanian Literature. Due to the history of its publication, the nature of the work and the social historical circumstances in which Albania is located, the work did not have the opportunity to be read and appreciated as a work of Albanian literature. It was published in 1894 in the Sunday at Home magazine in the English language. Her Albanian manuscript was lost. Thus, an isolation of the work was created and recognition of the work by the Albanian reader was suspended. The work actually represents an undeniable literary fact. It bears some characteristics of romantic literature and becomes a representative of the early Albanian novel. Can Captured by Brigands be called a novel? In our opinion, we are dealing with a novel, because they are romanticized real events which have a genuine anthropological nature and for us they are also the beginning of a literary genre that we have called anthropological literature which continues to be written in Albanian literature. The work will be compared with well-known works of romantic literature and will be accompanied by analytical texts of criticism on romantic literature.
