Considerations regarding the construction and inauguration of the wayside cross on Michael the Brave’s Knoll in Şelimbăr (November 14-15, 1925)

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the history of the construction and inauguration of the wayside cross on Michael the Brave’s Knoll in Şelimbăr in November 14-15, 1925. During the debates that took place in the Palace of the Astra Association in Sibiu, in the first months of 1925, Professor Nicolae Iorga suggested to President V. Goldiş that the institution he presided over in Sibiu, together with the Cultural League and the National Houses Central, could build and unveil a commemorative wayside cross on this site to honor the unifying voivode Michael the Brave and those who died here. Important people and institutions contributed to the construction of this wayside cross, and civil and church officials participated in its inauguration, led by Metropolitan Nicolae Bălan.
