Summary/Abstract: The present paper offers a concise overview of the teachers’ roles in Romanian society, identifying the level of attractiveness among young people towards this profession, as well as the causes that lead them to choose alternative career paths. This micro-research was conducted on a sample of 100 university students in Romania (enrolled in bachelor's, master's, or doctoral programs) through an online questionnaire. From the study conducted, we can conclude that young people opt for psycho-pedagogical training in order to obtain certification for the teaching profession without it being their first carrier choice. Additionally, we identified that this lack of motivation is due to the social status of the profession in the labor market, inadequate salaries compared to professional requirements, the high demanding tasks, the bureaucratization and lack of predictability of the educational system. By identifying these factors that reduce the attractiveness of the profession to students, we consider it would be beneficial to develop educational strategies/policies to ensure the stability of human resources within the teaching system as a whole.
