Summary/Abstract: The article discusses important problems related to the formation of a new social and food security system in the Republic of Bulgaria. Based on the socio- philosophical analysis of the functions and role of the food security system in contemporary Bulgaria, conclusions are made, goals and proposals for the creation of a long-term strategy for sustainable food security system development in modern Bulgaria are proposed. An analysis of the transformation of the food security system in terms of its subjects, functions and social role is carried out. The main characteristics of the food security system are justified.
