Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on history of Jewish minority in the Bulgarian territory in period between 1941 and 1944. At the same time it focuses on particular interpretation models of a phenomenon called “saving the Bulgarian Jews”. The article deals with particular versions and variants of a collective memory, and tries to confront them with some interpretations of recent both Bulgarian and foreign historiography. It uncovers mechanisms of genesis and maintaining of various memory narratives and how those cultural constructs have been dependent on ruling apparatuses of power during the decades.
