Summary/Abstract: This article is focused on the challenges that I went through during my fieldwork for Atlasi etnografik i fshatit sot (The ethnographic atlas of the village in today Albania) a research project undertaken from 2020 to 2022. These challenges have approached through the time factor, that is the idea of what does it mean to keep time during such a dynamic process of fieldwork such as that of the Atlas. For that I refer both to theoretical and analytical perspectives coming from ethnomusicology and anthropology, the idea of keeping time in music and anthropology. This is going to be discussed in the first part of the article, while in the second I present some aspects regarding current music practices in the Albanian village today. The latter are also approached through the time factor, that is, by comparing the contemporary practices with the ones that have been documented during ethnomusicological fieldwork before the fall of the dictatorial regime, for observing the changes and transformations.
