Summary/Abstract: The musical representation of Scanderbeg can be examined in several musical works written by both albanian and non albanian composers and in different historial periods. This can be a good starting point for investigating the socio-cultural contexts that have produced such works. After a general view on these contexts, we focus on a single case: the symphonic poem Scanderbeg (1937) by Fan Noli, based on a poem by Longfellow. While examining the various musical elements used by Noli in his work, we are also going to critically discuss about the role that the albanian musicology has given to this work; was it part of the concert life during the regime years and how the latter can be positioned in the history of albanian music during the 20th century.
