Summary/Abstract: Railway administration is a large area, which includes the safety section, of the railway itself, including the buildings and facilities it manages. One of the areas that deserves attention in these hectic times for maintaining public order and more broadly security is the protection of the so-called soft targets at risk in the open spaces in railway administration. The author presents partial findings of a pilot research project on optimizing investment in railway security at the University of Finance and Administration in Prague. A historical look into the recent past, when significant changes have also occurred in this area, is provided, with suggestions for possible solutions outlined in part of the paper's content.
