Regional and national in the note of diak Dimitar of Kratovo from 1466

Summary/Abstract: In a manuscript fragment from the 15th century, RSL coll. 87 No. 1707, an extensive postscript in the nature of an afterword, left by Deacon Dimitar of Kratovo, has been preserved. The short text provides interesting information about the history of the Balkans, uniting the regional and the national in the idea of history. The writer tells about his hometown and about the politics of the Ottoman sultan, and the two levels of the narrative are united by the information about the church and about the anti-Ottoman resistance. In a few sentences, Dyak Dimitar of Kratovo outlines the world view of a Bulgarian from the 15th century.
