Short music dictionary by Karel Macháň and the formation of Bulgarian music terminology

Summary/Abstract: In 1901, the Czech musician, teacher, theorist and composer Karel Machan (1867 – unknown) published the first music dictionary in Bulgarian. The dictionary is aimed at a wide range of readers – educators, students, and amateur musicians. The report generally presents the content of the „Short Music Dictionary“, analyzes its thesaurus and reveals Mahan’s contribution to the formation of Bulgarian musical terminology.
