Summary/Abstract: This elaboration presents basic aspects of service activities, including the main differentiating factors with respect to manufacturing operations, kinds and types of definitions and factors affecting their shape and development. A key part of the study is the identification of logistics processes and their adaptation to the needs of service activity. The authors presented this approach through a study conducted in two selected service industries. They selected catering and hospitality industry as one of the main areas of tourist services. The specifics will help identify the key characteristics of logistics processes in service activities. A differentiated approach to the logistics processes is caused by the necessity to take into account the characteristics of the services in relation to manufacturing operations. Hence, the authors refer to these characteristics in the analysis of the specificity of logistics processes.
