Summary/Abstract: The paper gives an overview of the hitherto analyses of medieval tombstone inscriptions in the Ribarska river basin and the western part of Aleksinačko Pomoravlje, i.e. the area of the old župa of Zagrlata. A particular focus is placed on the tombstone inscription from the Kaonik village near Kruševac, whose transcription we bring here, with the aim to offer its new interpretation. The inscription was created during the rule of Emperor Stefan Dušan (1346–1355) and testifies to the death of a certain Vretoloma Dragoslav. The analysis of its content reveals a number of details important for the study of history, culture, linguistics and social organisation in this part of medieval Serbia.
