Summary/Abstract: The author deals with the questions of ethics in the work of the police in his article. He elaborates the Ethics Code of the Police of the Czech Republic which is specified in five basic points that are not always concrete enough because of their briefness. Th is can be quite complicated for policemen and thein commanders as well. Th e article deals with the basic situations that policemen meet on service and ethic principles that lead to their solutions on the first hand and the behaviour of policemen on the other hand.
