Summary/Abstract: The article presents evolution of liability for tort losses caused to third parties, from the ancient right of revenge to the guarantee-repartition concept of loss adjustment. The article focuses on the particu- lar role of insurance in compensation of motor claims, and discusses selected remarks on third party liability and its subsequent place in the private law system.
