Summary/Abstract: The review presents a literary work and the tragic life destiny of the forgotten Serbian romantic poet Damjan Pavlović (1839-1866). His family background, education and unexpected tragic suicide were pointed out, and then his literary work was presented. First of all, we focused on poetry dominated by reflective (“Viši duh”), patriotic (“Dunavo”) and love songs (“Izbor, srce, dušo”). We also focused on Pavlović’s four short stories: “Jelka”, “Dva pobratima”, “Iz đačkog dnevnika” and “Beležnik’ova kći”, as well as on theater critics and translations (Heine, Birger). The final part of the review points out the value aspects of Pavlović’s work, as well as the place in the generation of romantic poets from the 1960s.
