Summary/Abstract: This study attempts to explore and apply an autofictional reading grid for the works of a contemporary Romanian writer, Helene Pflitsch, which in her debut novel Dezrădăcinare sau un nou început, approaches a Reality (as all the texts pertaining to autofictional sphere), dealing with the problem of migration, discrimination, nationalism, tolerance, acceptance, adaptation..., problems transposed from the macro level into the story of the Romanian immigrant, Emma. The study will engage theories and interdisciplinary perspectives pertaining to autofictional area, focussing on Vincent Colonna’s and Serge Doubrovsky’s theories. By adopting a vast theoretical framework, the study will explore concepts like referential nominal protocol, fictional modal protocol, self-fictionalization in order to identify and analyse the autofictional characteristics of the novel.
