Mother tongue didactics and practice

Summary/Abstract: The article responds to terminological ambivalence of basic concepts in the L1 disciplinary pedagogy, in view of the recent qualitative transformation of Slovak education. This problem has proved to be particularly urgent in the context of the current proposals for curriculum modification in the Slovak Republic for all types of schools indicated in the Education for the 21st Century framework project, which is being addressed by expert working groups with the involvement of the professional public. The main thematic focus of the article is to outline the definitions of didactics – methodology notions connected with pedagogical practice and specified for the scientific field of the didactics of Slovak a sa mother tongue in terms of current expectations and future challenges.
