Summary/Abstract: As member state of the EU, Bulgaria supports modern European values such as compassion and social support for handicapped people who are labeled as people with a disadvantaged social status. Simultaneously, Bulgaria keeps preserving those typically Bulgarian ethical features which historically are based on our social practices. When studying the social values and attitudes of Bulgarian society, one has to bear in mind recent times’ specific influence of the state and the governmental management.
