Summary/Abstract: "The great loner" represents the return of Marin Preda to the traditional novel, to the world from "Morometes", although the action is occurring now in the urban environment. "The great loner" brings together two universes: rural and urban, with his intellectuals in the phase of permanent experiences, with artists who experiment without knowing the true art. The main character, Niculae Moromete, is the character who overcomes his "loneliness" by confession and who triumphs in the fight against the opposite destiny through love, reliving life with detachment. Marin Preda imagined in "The great loner" a novel with multiple symbolic meanings, which communicates, with obvious lyrical participation, essential things about man, about love and about truth.
