Summary/Abstract: The study reveals the work characteristics of the most impressive post-war Romanian prose writer, Marin Preda: the profound connection with reality, time identified with history, individual vs history relationship, storyteller’s theme, couples’ theme, characters (characteristic of the rural and urban world), the recording of its opera in modernism (by writing techniques and styles and specific themes form his own time), authenticity and his own style (the forms of orality coexist with those of the scriptural ones, the popular expression with the intellectual, neological one). Among the most important critics who explored the world of his prose, there are famous names, such as Eugen Simion, Nicolae Manolescu, Mihai Ungheanu, Ov.S. Crohmălniceanu, Alexandru Piru, Ion Bălu etc., who offer their personal perspective on Marin Preda’s opera, whose mysteries have not been discovered yet.
