Summary/Abstract: In recent years, there has been a development of interdisciplinary research in literary studies. In the language of theory, a number of concepts transferred from other scientific disciplines appeared. In connection with the development of media and new technologies, audiovisual concepts have become popular. The article reflects on the mechanism of adapting the vocabulary of literary theory to the audiovisual field, which determines contemporary literary communication. Used and popular media metaphors often have a literary approach or are used in a purely philological way as a clue or metaphor. These concepts, transferred to the language of literary theory, lose their source properties, leading to blurring the boundaries of disciplinary discourse. They become an attempt to negotiate meanings within well-known, sometimes refreshed, reborn, reconstructed, theoretical concepts derived from old-fashion structuralism.
