Summary/Abstract: The focus of this article is on the influence of mother-child interaction on early child development in the interval from 10 to 36 months. A brief analysis is made and the survey tools for its study are discussed. The PICCOLO (Parent-Child Interactions: A Checklist of Observations Related to Outcomes) methodology is presented . PICCOLO is a monitoring tool originally developed in the USA by Prof. Lori Roggman and her team, and subsequently introduced in a number of other countries. This tool is new for Bulgaria and is based on the latest scientific formulations in the field of early childhood development. Validation of PICCOLO is pending, and this will provide new opportunities in counseling parents and children.
