Summary/Abstract: During World War II there was a special interest to control the Danube mouth and, implicitly, the always youngest Romanian soil: the Danube Delta, from the two actors on the world war stage at that time in the region: the Soviet Union and Germany. This study focuses mostly on actions taken in 1940-1944 by individuals and groups of individuals trained by the NKVD and placed in the Delta for the mentioned purpose.
