Summary/Abstract: Over the course of history, the great and small powers in Europe have always displayed a geopolitical and geostrategic interest in the zone situated between the Danube and the Black Sea. This historical truth has been proved time and time again, during the most relevant political and military events. The analysts have thus, examined the Northern parts (the Danube Delta and the confluence between the river and sea), the Southern ones, as well as the Danube’s and Black Sea’s littoral. First “neutral” allies and afterwards, enemies, U.S.S.R. and Germany (two of the main competitors for world hegemony from 1939 to 1945) have paid special attention to this zone during the Second World War.
