Summary/Abstract: The study presents biographical notes of lawyer Flaviu Tudor Dan (1901–1985) from Bistriţa. He was born into the family of the priest Eliseu Iulian Dan from Susenii Bârgăului. He attended primary school in his hometown and the gymnasium in Năsăud (Gimnaziul Grăniceresc din Năsăud). In 1923, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law in Cluj and graduated in 1926. He entered into the political world during his student years and worked in the youth organisation of the National Peasants’ Party (Partidul Naţional Ţărănesc). In the electoral campaign between 1928–1929, Flaviu Tudor Dan submitted his candidacy on behalf of the National Peasants’ Party (P.N.Ţ.) and was elected deputy. In 1938 he was elected president of The Christian Democratic National Peasants’ Party (Partidul Naţional Creştin) in Năsăud county. The period of the Horthy administration caused him too much pain. He was arrested many times and suspected of relations with the authorities in the Kingdom of Romania. The problems continued after communism was installed. He was convicted to six years of prison and seizure of assets for plotting against the social order. Flaviu Tudor Dan and his wife Ena (born Ciuta) slumber in peace in the orthodox cemetery at Dealul Dumitrei in Bistriţa.
