Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to provide a short review of the main aspects of favoritism in the working environment. First, it introduces various types of favoritism. Second, the article tackles the issue of nepotism and presents new findings of the literature according to which some nepotism (reciprocal nepotism) manifests positive values for the working environment. In addition, we also present a few conditions which are favourable for reciprocal nepotism and which are said to contribute positively to the working environment. Furthermore, our paper aims at identifying cultural motivations behind the fairly wide spread of favoritism in Romanian society.
